Justine is a solitary 30-year-old woman that buys a repossessed apartment at an auction. The day she decides to move into her new home, her keys don’t fit in the lock and she realizes there are still two tenants living in her new apartment: a mother and her daughter, who suffers an acute mental illness.

Justine, the main character of this 30-minute-long film, is portrayed Julia Kijowska, who already received appraisal for her role in Loving (Slawomir Fabick, 2012), being awarded the Luna de Valencia at the 27th edition of Cinema Jove in 2013; and who also received the Best Actress Award for her role in Games (Gry, Maciej Marczewski, 2013) at the 7th Edition of La Cabina Festival.

Director Klara Kochanska was born in Krakow in 1984. She studied Humanities at the Warsaw University and, in 2009, began a specialization in Direction at the National Film Academy of Poland, in Lodz. After finishing the filming of Tenants (Lokatorki) she has begun working on her first feature film.  Tenants has been selected in several festivals and is one of the semi-finalists of the Student Academy Awards, an event which has been organized since 1972 by the American Film Academy to promote young directors’ work.

Tenants is part of the Official Section of the 9th edition of the International Medium-length Film Festival La Cabina that will be celebrated from the 3rd to the 13th of November at La Filmoteca of Valencia.
