Tamara has decided to break up with Hans. It has been some time already that the only thing left for them were the ruins of a relationship that used to be happy. They both live in a beautiful country house isolated from everything together with Hans’ father, whom Tamara has been taking care of as if he were her own father. The three of them will live an intense final weekend before Tamara leaves, and they will experience a farewell that will be more painful tan any would’ve imagined.
Darling (Liebling) is a 42min long medium-length film. The filming took only three weeks. The director, Schmidl, invites the viewer to come into Hans and Tamara’s home, while the walls around them fall apart and potential buyers and real estate investors wander around the area, unaware of the drama taking place inside the house. Tamara and Hans love each other, but their life together no longer makes sense. Only Hans’ father keeps them together, but this will no longer be enough.
Sebastian Schmidl was born in Vienna in 1986. He studied Script Writing at the Vienna Film School. After finishing his degree he met Alexandra Makarová and Georg Weiss, with whom he has created a work group that has developed several film projects such as Ein einem enderen Tag (2012) and Sola (2013). He is currently producing his first feature film.
Darling is part of the Official Section of the 9th Edition of the International Medium-length Film Festival La Cabina that will take place in Valencia from the 3rd to the 13th of November.
