Berlin. Fall. Nine-year-old Lilli lives with her mother and six-year-old brother Paul in a central apartment in the city. Her mother is sick and her relapses are more and more frequent. Lilli and Paul take care of her, trying to keep their family life seemingly normal and hiding her sickness from teachers and neighbors. But the secret won’t be kept for long…
Jan Buttler studied Political Science and Latin American studies in the Free University of Berlin. He founded the FilmArche Berlin film school in 2002 and worked there until 2009. In 2007 he directed his first short film: Wie Blubber im Bauch. He is currently a movie script writing professor. His medium-length film Lilli has participated in several festivals, such as Max Ophüls and Achtung-Berlin.
Lilli is one of the films selected for the Official Section of the 5th Edition of Valencia’s International Medium-length Film Festival ‘La Cabina’.
