José Víctor Fuentes

He is a Canary Islands filmmaker, also known as Zac73dragon or Zacarías de la Rosa.

After graduating in Business Administration and Management at the University of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, he studied filmmaking in various schools of Madrid and at the New York Film Academy. In 2002 he returned to his hometown in the island of La Palma and created the film festival “El Festivalito”. He later extended his personal audiovisual revolution to all the islands, creating the competition Canarias Rueda.

He has filmed various short films and four feature films. Of his short films, the most relevant are: ‘The girl of the rain’, ‘Welcome to disneylandia’, ‘Zacarías’ el dragón de lluvia gris’ and ‘Desayuno con Pastillas’. His first feature film was 90 minutos & I love you, a collective film written online and filmed with a single sequence shot in Brooklyn, which received the Audience Award at the International Digital Festival of Florence in 2011. Next, he produced ‘La Luz de Mafasca’ (2012), a thriller with fantasy elements shot at the arid locations of the island of Fuerteventura, and shown on TVC, the Canary Island Television channel. He then returned to New York, where he filmed the diptych 11211, a quantum fable shot in Williamsburg neighborhood, which received the Special Mention Jury award at the LPA Film Festival in 2014.  His latest feature film is ‘A veces el amor’, a filmic diary that he has shot for the last twenty years. He has also produced and directed the docufiction series Canarias Rueda for the Canary Island Television channel.

Paula Álvarez

Graduated in English Language and Literature with additional education in Cultural Journalism and Communication, Paula is the Head of Press and the PR of independent producer and distributor AVALON. During her career she has participated in the release, promotion, and premiere of international films such as Son of Saul, The Lobster, Elle and The Sisters Brothers, as well as national releases such as Verano 1993, Akelarre and Los días que vendrán.

Fernando Guallar

Fernando Guallar completed his education in acting, singing and voice acting in Madrid and New York. He has worked in several fiction productions, such as ‘Luis Miguel’, in Netflix; ‘Patria’, in HBO and ‘Velvet Colección’. He starred in the film by Nacho Álvarez ‘Explota, explota’ – nominated to Best Male Interpretation at the Andalusian Film Awards, ASECAN –. With ‘Gente que viene y bah’, by Patricia Font, Fernando moved into cinema productions. He has worked in short films such as ‘Postales’ by Inés Pintor and Pablo Santidrián, a role for which he received the Best International Actor award at the Flagler Film Festival in Florida and a nomination for Best Actor at the Festival de Piélagos. On stage, he has worked under the direction of Fernando Soto in the play ‘Dining Room’.

Amalgama Jury

Rafa Molés

Rafa Molés is a director, scriptwriter, and producer. His latest work is documentary feature film ‘Lobster Soup’ (2020), which premiered at the San Sebastián Festival and was either awarded or selected in 20 international festivals, including Visions du Réel, Thessaloniki and Dok.fest Munich. He is the co-director of documentaries ‘Picades contra el vidre’’ (2019), ‘Experimento Stuka’ (2018), ‘Sara Baras. Todas las voces’ (2017) and the award-winning documentary ‘Five days to dance’ (2014), the second most watched documentary of the year 2014 in Spanish movie theatres. His production company SUICAfilms, together with Pepe Andreu, has also produced documentaries such as ‘[m]otherhood’ (2018), awarded Best Script at La Cabina Festival, or fiction feature films with creators such as Carlos Marques-Marcet and Elena López Riera.

Nagore Eceiza

Graduated in Marketing, Advertisement and Public Relations and with an MA in Author Documentary by the Observatorio de Cine de Barcelona, Nagore Eceiza works, since 2013, as a producer, director, editor, DOP and colorist under the name of El Santo Films.

She feels very identified with the idea of using the social documentary genre as an educational tool, and has participated in film productions in Paris, Argelia, Israel, Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique, Mexico, India, and Puerto Rico. She has also directed three short films: Después de María (2019) Fifty Rupees Only (2016) and Larre Motzean (2015). She is currently developing her first feature film: If you wish to make an apple pie.

Emilio Martí

Emilio Martí (Valencia, 1978), is an animator and art therapist; he uses animation in an experimental way, for activism and, often, collaboratively. His films include Desanimado (2011), a comedy about the fear of “being normal” and the documentary Marhaba (2016), produced with Syrian children refugees in Greece. In Makun (No llores) he animates the drawings from a Foreign Internment Center wall and accompanies them with personal stories of migrants, to demand the closure of these centers. He is currently directing and producing the animation series DERECHOS ANIMADOS (Animation Rights), an animated documentary about Occidental Sahara, Pequeño Sáhara, and Anetta, and experimental piece inspired by the life of Altean Singer Anetta Nicoli, as well as 4 animation pieces for CEAR Euskadi (Commission to Help Refugees) about refugees and displaced people affected by Climate Change.

Laia Lluch

Laia Lluch (València 1987). Graduated in Audiovisual Communications, she is a producer and still image cinematographer. Her latest work includes the direction and production of fashion films, advertisements and videoclips. Her most recent job has been the videoclip Cadaqués by François. She has also worked in feature films as a still image cinematographer, including ‘Stockholm’ by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, ‘El sustituto’ by Óscar Aibar, ‘Mindanao’ by Borja Soler, ‘Vasil’ by Avelina Prat, ‘El agua’ by Elena López Riera, ‘Hollyblood’ by Jesus Font, ‘El juego de las llaves’ by Vicente Villanueva and ‘Llenos de gracia’ by Roberto Bueso.

Carla Pitarch

Carla Pitarch (Valencia 1992) is a multidisciplinary artist specialized in animation. Recently she has self-learned animation and 3D and she combines her work as motion designer in Ana Mirats Studio with the project she has created together with her sister, África Pitarch, under the name Estudio Furia, dedicated to animation in all of its facets, having worked with musical groups or clients such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

Betto García

Trained in London at the workshop of the prestigious milliner Edwina Ibbotson, being only 22 years old when he participated in creating commissions for the British Royal Family, including the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as for the Ascot races, the meeting place of British aristocracy. Back in Spain, he opened his handmade millinery in Valencia. He has collaborated with Spanish brands Palomo Spain, Juan Vidal and Outsiders Division, as well as with New York designed Christian Siriano, who included pieces of the Valencian artist in his concept store in the Big Apple, The Curated NYC.

He has also created custom-made pieces for figurine maker Ana López Cobos, crossing his creations over into theatre. Celebrities who have counted on Betto García’s work include international rapper Cardi B, singers Rosalía, Mala Rodríguez and Amaia Romero, actresses Rossy de Palma, Penélope Cruz, Miriam Giovanelli, Úrsula Corberó, and many others.

Senior Jury


La Cabina and La Nau Gran offer their students the possibility of becoming a part of the Senior Jury. A jury formed by audience members who are over 55 years of age and who must value the cinematographic and narrative quality of the medium-length films that form the Official Section and Amalgama.

Young Jury

Once again, Barreira A+D collaborates with La Cabina in its 14th edition: we will present the award for the Best Script of the Amalgama Section. In this case, the jury will include students of the Master in Scriptwriting for Film and New Media. The winner will be able to choose one of the following awards:

  • A Visual Writing workshop with Pablo Berger -winner of ten Goya awards for Blancanieves-, that will take place in the Master Program in Scriptwriting for Film and New Media.
  • An online meeting with creative director Polina Zakh [Sila Sveta Studio: [Drake, Cardi B, Alexander Wang] that will take place in the Master Program in Creative Digital Production.
