Synopsis
Ride is a portrait of my younger brother of 16 years, Maxence, through his practice of freestyle scootering. In the skatepark of Antibes, in the French Riviera, from one winter to the next, I observed the adolescent faces and bodies of Maxence and his friends, the enigma of their metamorphosis, and tried to capture what “riding” expresses of their intimate desires.

Laure Protat
Laure Protat was born in 1985 on the French Riviera. She now lives in Paris. She works as a writer, a screenwriter and a director. “Meatballs Couscous”, her frst documentary short, part of the collaboratve web-series Grandmas Project, premiered at 2018 Hot Docs Canadian Internatonal Documentary Festval. ‘Ride’, her next documentary short project, is supported by the G.R.E.C.
