Alba Cros

She co-directed her first film ‘Las amigas de Ágata’ (2015) together with Laia Alabart, Laura Rius and Marta Verheyen. The film was critically acclaimed and successfully released in movie theatres all over Spain. It was nominated for Best Film at the Gaudí Awards of the Catalonian Cinema Academy.

In 2012, she co-produced, together with Jordi Morató, the documentary “Camí de terra”, awarded the First Prize of the Film Festival in Nature – Foradcamp 2012, and which also received a Special Mention by the Juty in the 1st Film Festival of Fronteray and was selected for the 3rd Film Festival MIRAdocs.

Her work as a director in the collective piece “Chantal Akerman un recuerdo” (2016), together with Francina Ribes, was also praised, and she has worked as Assistant Director in the Carlos Marquès-Marcet film “Los días que vendrán (2019)”. Currently, Alba Cros is preproducing the documentary “Otredades”, together with Nora Haddad and produced by Amor & Lujo.

Nacho Lopez

Nacho López Murria

Theatre author and director, Nacho López Murria currently works as a fiction scriptwriter in La Caña Brothers, where he has created the young adult horror mini-series “Circular” for RTVE which was broadcast on Instagram Stories, the program “Otros Mundos” on Movistar+, and the documentary “El instante decisivo” for Atresmedia.

His professional career as a theatre writer and director started with the founding of CanallaCo Teatre, where he has developed most of his theatrical work during the past eleven years. As a short filmmaker, he has written and directed movies “¡Laura, Laura!” (which received the Best Short Film Under 5 Minutes award at Cabra Film Festival, the Best Script award at the Cinema Jove in Elche, and Best Fiction Short Film award at Quartmetratges), “El Afilador” and “¡Pum!”, the adaptation of a minicomic by Mikko.

His work as a videoclip director is also prominent, having worked with artists such as Tórtel, Rudi D and Polítiko, and he also writes advertisements for renown brands.

Elodie cine

Elodie Mellado

Content editor for Filmin since 2012, a Spanish online streaming film platform that mostly includes auteur and independent cinema and also incorporates some commercial titles. She combines her work on the platform with her job as a programmer for the REC Festival of Tarragona.

Elodie Mellado has a degree in Audiovisual Communication by the Rovira i Virgili Univeristy. You can currently read her articles and recommendations on the Filmin blog.

Javier Vilalta

Javier Vilalta

Human rights activist Javier Vilalta is the Director of the Ámbit Association and the Coordinator of the Human Rights Observatory, mental health and prison – ODSP. He was the Director of the International Film and Human Rights Festival in València from 2013 to 2019, a remarkable position in the audiovisual panorama. He also participated as coordinator and director of the documentary “Los Bienes Efímeros de la Cultura Valenciana” (Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Valencia Community), Valencian International University (VIU) (2013).

His professional career, related mostly to human rights, has incorporated coordination, direction and promotion of several different initiatives. Among them, the following should be highlighted: responsible for the day of awareness on hate crimes by the City Hall of València (2018), promoter of cultural activities in the program ‘Inclusive Arts’ for vulnerable collectives, responsible for reintegration and awareness program for the Foundation for Justice (until 2018), and faculty member of several studies on law, new technologies, sustainable development and development cooperation.

Cristóbal Suria

Cristóbal Suria

Since 2001 Cristóbal Suria is the manager of the General Foundation of the University of València, a public sector foundation that cooperates in the compliance of the objectives of the University of València (UV) in its different fields of action. He has been the coordinator of the European Project Erasmus Scene Network of the program Erasmus+ (KA203) (2017-2018) and currently leads the preparation of an office of the European Commission in València for the development of this project.

His participation in the Progress for Unemployed Youth should be highlighted, as well as his work designing the project Talents and Abilities for two years, financed by the “La Caixa” Social Work, which received the Social Innovation Distinction in 2016.

As a faculty member, he has participated in numerous conferences on the Third Sector, and he teaches in the Foundations module in the MA in Social Economy of the UV since 2011. Currently, he is a member of the Patronage Advisory Board of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Laura García Andreu

Director and scriptwriter, Laura García Andreu has worked in numerous television shows, has directed documentaries and is a faculty member at the Science of Communication Department of the University Jaume I in Castellon.

Her work as codirector and cowriter of the documentary ‘[m]otherhood’, coproduced by SUICAfilms and À Punto Media, has received critical acclaim. The film has been awarded the Best Screenplay at the International Film Festival La Cabina (2018) and the Best Documentary Short-Film at the II Valencian Audiovisual Awards (2019). The film has also been selected in several international festivals such as DocsAgainstGravity Film Festival (Poland), DocsBarcelona, Montreal Féministe Film Festival (Canada), International Film Festival of Madrid, International Film Festival of Guayaquil (Ecuador), Festival Protesta de Vic and DocLounge Turku (Finland).

The documentary comedy ‘Domingo Domingo’ is her second film as a director. The project has received the À Punt and the MAFIZ (Malaga Film Festival) awards in the DocsLab of the DocsValència Festival 2019.

Jaume Mora

Valencian illustrator, formed in the illustration field at the EASD Alcoi, Jaume Mora has a versatile style which has allowed him to work in a variety of projects.

He has participated in numerous collective exhibitions and some individual exhibits in several cities. His clients include a variety of companies and display his versatility: covers for Bromera, Ediciones Hidroavión…, illustrations for the Museo ABC in collaboration with Coca Cola for the 58 Edition of Young Talent in Short Stories, magazine illustrations for Ferida and Valencia Plaza, and label design for beers and wines for Antiga Brewing & Co and Aida y Luis Fermentan.

Patricia Bolinches

She works in graphic design, communication and illustration. Patricia Bolinches’ work focuses on conceptualization, provocation and the use of metaphors, occasionally including the romanticism of editorial and brand illustration through printed and online communications.

Her work has been praised internationally and has received several awards in the last decade, such as the European Newspaper Award (2019), the Excellency Award by SND (2018) and the Bronze Medal at ÑH2017 Awards. She has worked for Forbes, T Magazine, Plaza Magazine, El Mundo, La Marea and Mongolia, as well as for cultural institutions such as the Centro Dramático Nacional, the CCCC – Centre del Carmen, Cinema Jove, La Nau and the Modern and Contemporary Arts Museum in Palma de Mallorca, among others.

She enjoys taking a break, reflecting and exploring new directions in artistic expression, mainly in urban art, with her project BYG, experimental analogical photography, collage, and the world of fanzines and self-publishing.

Julia Valencia

Graphic designer, creative director and visual artist, Julia Valencia has received training and has worked in different areas of creativity. With a career in graphic design spanning over 15 years, she has specialized in corporate identity and brand conceptualization, conveying strong symbolic roots to her projects.

In the field of creative direction, she has worked for cultural projects such as Cinema Jove – International Film Festival, where she has been able to coordinate a single concept being manifested in different disciplines, such as set design, graphic image and merchandising. She is currently the creative director of the Rocío Molina Company.

As an artist, she specializes in the creation of pagan altars, with the objective of paying tribute to cultural peculiarities. She has exhibited her installations in Valencia, Tokio (Japan), OniShi (Japan), Atalbéitar (Granada) and Sofía (Bulgaria), and has also participated in several collective exhibits and artistic residencies.

La Cabina
 and La Nau Gran offer their students the possibility of becoming a part of the Senior Jury, a novelty included in the previous edition of the festival.  A jury formed by an audience of members over 55 years of age will award an official prize per competing section. A total of 16 members will form this jury, which will have to value the cinematographic and narrative quality of the medium-length films that form the Official Section and Amalgama.

One more year, Barreira A + D collaborates with La Cabina: we once again presented the award for Best Screenplay in the Amalgama section. In this case, the jury will be made up of the students of the Master in Script for Film and New Media.
The winner can choose one of these two prizes:
  • Visual writing workshop with Pablo Berger -winner of ten goyas for Snow White-, which takes place within the Master in Script for Film and New Media.
  • Online meeting with the creative director Polina Zakh [Sila Sveta Studio: [Drake, Cardi B, Alexander Wang] that will be given within the master’s degree in Digital Creative Production.
