Áurea Ortiz is a Film History Professor at the University of Valencia. She has been part of the Filmoteca de Valencia team since its inception and her investigation topics -developed in publications, seminars and exhibits- are related to Spanish Film History and the connection between history and the arts. Among her publications, several can be highlighted: books such as ‘Painting in film: issues on visual representation´ and ‘Architecture in Films’ ; several articles in specialized magazines, such as Cahiers du Cinéma, Kane, Viridiana and L’Atalante. Ortiz has also published several articles about the representation of women and sexual differentiation in Spanish Film through the Valencian Film Institute (IVAC) as part of their monographic on Classic Spanish Film.
She has also worked as a film critic for La Cartelera de Levante-EMV during 15 years and has curated several exhibits.
