Synopsis
All rooms in Hostal España, a modest guesthouse located in the centre of the city of Leon,are occupied by elder people. Many of them come from the abandoned rural areas that surround the city. In its rooms, corridors and dining room, seasons follow one another without pause for a community that has been invited to record their daily lives and thus participate in the creation of a film that accounts for other possible way of living the old age.

The Project
‘Hostal España’ has been developed by LAAV_ and directed by Chus Domínguez together with Inma Álvarez and the staff and residents at Hostal España. LAAV_ is a space for research and creation with communities developed from the DEAC MUSAC (Educational and Cultural Action Department of the Castilla y León Contemporary Art Museum).
Chus Domínguez (Léon, Spain 1967). Audiovisual artist specialized in documentary cinema. His works has been shown in festivals such as Locarno, Oberhausen, BAFICI, Vila do Conde, Punto de Vista, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Reencontres Internacionales Paris/Madrid/Berlín, Festival Les Instants Vidéo, Marseille, Experimental Film & Video Festival Seoul (EXIS), etc., as well as in various art spaces. Since 2007 he collaborates with MUSAC (Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León), through Educational Department, in programming, research and collaborative creation.
