In downtown Rio de Janeiro, far from the typical postcards of the “Marvelous City”, a small street reveals a different city. Here, Romeu, who speaks fluent English, lives the condition of a street dweller; Cristina, his constant companion, denounces the misery that surrounds them. Careca maneuvers the cars of patients at a medical clinic while asking for protection from his religious entities. Custódio, or Botafogo for those closest to him, spends his days worrying about the possibility of being evicted while he relies on gambling. These four characters live together on a busy street in a rapidly deteriorating neighborhood, and their personal dramas intersect on a daily basis.
